Despite the close connection with Melvor Idle and RuneScape, and the direct involvement of Jagex The publisher chose to keep the game as an original IP instead of making it an officially-licensed RuneScape spin-off. In part, this was recognition that OSRS Gold For Sale Malcolm had achieved in the place Jagex was unable to do so.

"We actually considered the idea of creating the idle RuneScape game several years ago with RuneScape: Idle Adventures," Pfeiffer says. "In Alpha, we stopped development to focus on the core RuneScape games.

We have always believed that RuneScape's game has potential in the area of idle games and Melvor Idle more than proves that RuneScape is able to inspire an amazing idle game. However, Melvor Idle stands up on its own merits as well, and we were determined to stay in line with the concept of the game that Brendan first began designing the game."

Pfeiffer also points to the popularity of Melvor Idle as evidence that talent can come from any game's community which is something Jagex has already seen. "We've always discovered this RuneScape group to be a great opportunity for talent at Jagex not only for game developers but all of the many tasks within a games studio," he says. "RuneScape has had almost 300million accounts created in more than 20 years, so the amount of people with talent who have been a part of the game is immense."

Following the successful collaboration together with Games By Malcs, Pfeiffer says he's keen to do more with independent developers across the world who are creating projects that "align with RuneScape's design philosophy and RuneScape Gold Jagex's core values" He hopes Melvor Idle's success will inspire more indie developers to reach out to Jagex Studios.
